Real matters, anonymised: how we've helped international families secure custody, uncover hidden assets and make foreign divorces count in China.
Primary custody secured
A German father living in Shenzhen lost contact with his nine-year-old son when the mother moved the child to another province. Evidence of his caregiving role and the child's own wishes led the court to award him direct custody, with structured visitation for the mother.
¥3.8M in hidden assets found
A Singaporean wife suspected her husband, who ran a Shenzhen trading company, was moving money before their divorce. Financial analysis traced RMB 3.8 million in transfers and a fabricated loan, and the court gave her a larger share of the community property.
Recognised in 4 months
A Chinese woman divorced in England could not remarry or sell her Guangzhou flat because Chinese authorities still treated her as married. We obtained recognition of the English divorce from the Guangzhou Intermediate People's Court in about four months.
HK order enforced on mainland
A Hong Kong mother held a Family Court maintenance order, but her ex-husband had moved to Shenzhen and stopped paying. Under the 2022 Hong Kong–Mainland arrangement, the order was recognised and enforced, and arrears were recovered from his mainland bank account and salary.
Protection order in 24 hours
A Canadian mother in Guangzhou faced escalating violence and threats from her husband. We prepared an urgent application the same day, and the court issued a personal safety protection order within 24 hours, before divorce proceedings began.
Divorce granted despite absent spouse
A Guangzhou woman's Italian husband left China and stopped all contact, leaving her unable to divorce by agreement. After service abroad failed, we used service by publication, and the court granted the divorce and custody of their son.
Bilingual prenup, notarised
An American entrepreneur and his Chinese fiancée wanted a fair agreement protecting pre-marital assets in both countries. We drafted a bilingual prenup with a clear choice of law, aligned it with property registration and had it notarised before they registered their marriage in Shenzhen.
Title transferred without travel
Three siblings living in Canada, the United States and Australia inherited their late mother's Shenzhen apartment without a will. Using apostilled powers of attorney, we completed the succession, title transfer and sale without any of them travelling to China.
